Creating Vokis - Online animated characters that speak

This digital lesson introduces a tool to help learners develop their speaking skills.

Ann Foreman

Vokis are great for practising speaking skills with learners of all ages. Creating an animated character and giving it a voice is really fun to do and breaks down the inhibitions that learners often have when faced with recording themselves speaking in English.

Learning outcomes

  • Practise speaking skills and pronunciation
  • Practice using language for pair work (It’s your turn, etc)
  • Develop familiarisation with online tools

There are so many possibilities for speaking activities with this website.  Plus, it's a cool way for kids to send someone to their parents.  A fun way to show that they've been working on their English speaking, which I've found tends to be the most difficult skill to work on.  Thanks!
