In response to the growing demand for skilled English teachers across Indonesia, the British Council has developed TeachingEnglish for Indonesia: Adapting Global Resources to Support English Teacher and Teacher Educator Professional Development. This digital booklet is designed to support Indonesian English language teachers and teacher educators by aligning high-quality global resources with the national curriculum.
Developed in collaboration with the Primary English Language Teachers of Indonesia (PELTIN) association, this initiative maps selected resources from the British Council’s global TeachingEnglish platforms, including our website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and X (Twitter), against curriculum outcomes from Phases B to F of Indonesia’s national English curriculum. It also explores effective strategies for adapting and localising these materials to suit local classroom contexts.
The booklet provides practical guidance on using TeachingEnglish resources to support classroom teaching, lesson planning, teacher training, and continuing professional development. It also connects educators with online communities and peer support networks, helping them stay updated, motivated, and professionally engaged.
Whether you are a classroom teacher, teacher trainer, or policymaker, this resource helps you access and adapt global English teaching tools to suit Indonesia’s local education priorities.
By bridging global expertise and local needs, TeachingEnglish for Indonesia empowers English teachers and teacher educators to improve student outcomes and grow professionally.
