Integrating global issues in the creative English language classroom

This publication provides innovative ideas for teaching while raising awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Edited by Alan Maley and Nik Peachey

This publication has a twofold aim – to help students learn a language creatively whilst at the same time raising awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through bringing together a range of innovative ideas for teaching creatively and addressing these key issues. The activities include enabling students to think creatively about sustainable food and food supplies, creating energy which does not harm the environment, and collaborating with other students globally to diminish the digital divide.

This publication is useful and wonderfully applicable in many subjects other than the English language.

In my senses, It was a huge cartography of knowledge (types in diversity ), course plans, activities, practical guides and developing zones etc. It stands on a higher platform to see worlds' sustainability and its relationships with education's contributions, thereby, it was generalized. Only United Nations Sustainable Development Goals can be looked as so, I thought. However, detailed and carefully designed operation ways made it suitable to be applied in many teachers and teacher educators' subjects & classrooms. In brief, it was all-inclusive. I enjoyed some elements of my fields have been included in this file, such as Music as Commons' language for love& friendship, Nutrition sciences for health, Energy management and eco-friendship, Genders' equality, Languages and Thinking Health... I think, to a teacher, no matter in language, or in certain subjects, or in their combinations, it's a good news to read, explore, think about and put it on hands for our own continuing developments and our own learners. It would need a piece of rather longer time, for our researching and learning from those goals mentioned in it. I was just reading it from the beginning. I will keep it and make further developments from this learn. Thanks!
