Task-based activities present opportunities for learners to practise reading and writing skills in meaningful contexts that often mimic real-life tasks and situations.

In this video, watch how the teacher takes his class through key stages of a task-based learning activity. Observe how his students practise relevant functional language, whilst interacting with and finally producing meaningful texts, which relate to real-life situations.

Finally, listen to the teacher sharing his experience of task-based teaching and his tips to ensure successful learning.

Download the session notes. The notes contain discussion, video-viewing and reflection tasks. Follow the tasks by going through the video in sequence. The video and session notes are designed as self-study resources to be worked through together. Techniques are transferable to other classes in other contexts.
