The new-look TeachingEnglish website is officially live!

The new-look TeachingEnglish website is designed to help English teachers and English language teaching professionals around the world access high-quality classroom resources, professional development opportunities and career support more easily.

Explore what's new

The updated website has been shaped by feedback from teachers and language professionals from all over the world. Many of you told us you wanted a simpler way to find the resources you need, clearer routes to your professional development goals and an easier way to keep track of your learning, including clear signposting of how to earn certificates. The refreshed site has been built with these needs in mind.

New features include:

  • a clearer homepage and menu to help you find what you need more quickly
  • improved search so that you can find the resources you need
  • clearly signposted access to certificates that recognise your learning
  • guidance to help you choose resources that match your goals, experience and interests, and the time you have available for your learning.

The British Council will continue to develop the website over time. Future updates will include guided learning pathways with certificates, personalised profiles, newsletters, webinars and live online events to help support your professional development.

Supporting teachers since 2002

Joanna Gore, Senior Manager, TeachingEnglish Website, British Council, said:

‘TeachingEnglish has been supporting English language teachers around the world since 2002. This refreshed website makes it easier for teachers to find trusted, high-quality resources, develop their skills and connect with other teachers. We know that teachers are busy, so we wanted to create a website that helps them find what they need quickly and supports them throughout their professional learning.

Whether you’re looking for practical ideas for the classroom, opportunities to develop your teaching or a community of teachers to learn with, TeachingEnglish is here to support you.’

TeachingEnglish offers a wide range of free professional development resources and opportunities, including self-study tutor-facilitated courses, lesson plans, classroom activities, webinars, research, articles and publications. Teachers and teacher educators can explore new teaching approaches, develop specialist knowledge, gain certificates for their learning and connect with colleagues from around the world to share ideas and experiences.

The refreshed website is the first step in an ongoing programme of improvements, with more features and learning opportunities coming soon.
