About our speakers

Elsie Enanga has over 16 years' experience as a teacher and examiner in Cameroon. Also, in Cameroon she provides recorded lessons for the Ministry of Secondary Education. In 2021 she contributed to the British Council English Connects CPD video series supporting EFL teachers. Elsie's work is focused on low-resource contexts and on how to provide accessible, quality education for all. 

Yasmin Chaudhuri, from Kolkata, India, has extensive experience as an English teacher to young adults in rural and semi-rural areas. She is also an assistant professor in English with the West Bengal Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal. Her teaching focuses on building strong communication skills and linguistic confidence, tailored to meet the diverse needs of her learners.

Carlos Caballero is an English teacher and teacher educator from Colombia, who has also previously served as the head of an English department at a secondary school. Carlos will share practical activities that promote Global Citizenship Education.

Gopika Jayachandran is a teacher and researcher at the National Institute of Technology Warangal, Telangana, India. Gopika will talk about visual literacy in the language classroom and how it promotes social change.

Urbashi Raha is an English teacher from India with over ten years of teaching experience. Currently based in Canada, she works on decolonial and land-based pedagogies. Urbashi will suggest practical activities for class that make use of translanguaging.
