Inclusive assessment

In this last event of our assessing learning series, we look at making assessment more inclusive. Find out what inclusive assessment means and how to design fair and unbiased assessments. Learn how to make traditional testing more creative and closer to real-life tasks. Finally watch our teachers share session, where three teachers from around the world share their top tips for inclusive assessment. About the speakers

Nashwa Aly Muhammad is an English lecturer and assessment specialist at Pharos University in Alexandria, Egypt. She has over a decade of expertise in education and language teaching. Known for her focus on accessibility and inclusivity, Nashwa is dedicated to designing equitable assessment practices and fostering learner-centred learning environments. 

Paula Asad runs and teaches in a language academy in Argentina. She is especially interested in mindfulness in education, and she also has a qualification in educational neuroscience. Paula is the president of the teachers' association APIBB, which is the Association of Teachers of English of Bahía Blanca, her region, helping connect and train teachers. 

Sara Ali is a secondary English language teacher in Egypt with over eight years' experience. She also now specialises in English for Specific Purposes (ESP), and she has trained teachers at international conferences. Sara will talk about understanding learner profiles and learner needs as a way to assess inclusively.

Kamran Akhtar Siddiqui is a university lecturer in English in Pakistan who also has experience teaching secondary-aged learners. His work has been published in the SPELT journal (Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers) and on our website here. Kamran will talk about using AI in self-assessment of writing.

Luthfi Nicola Sereni is an English language teacher from Indonesia. He also works in curriculum design and teacher training. Luthfi will be talking about creative activities that can also be used as assessments
