About the speakers for this webinar

Hala Ahmed is Head of English programmes in British Council Egypt, based in Cairo and leads on British Council Teacher Professional Development Programmes in Egypt. In more than 12 years with the British Council, Hala has been a teacher, a teacher trainer, a teacher mentor, and an academic manager of several national and regional projects to support refugees, schoolteachers and teacher educators.

Katherine Bilsborough is a freelance ELT author and teacher trainer. She is co-founder of the global community, ELT Footprint, winner of the 2020 ELTons award for Innovation in Teacher Resources. She is also one of the authors of the British Council’s ‘The Climate connection – 12 lesson plans’. She regularly writes and speaks about sustainability in ELT and she keeps a blog at www.creatingeltmaterials.com/blog

Colm Downes is the former Director English, Education and Society at the British Council Indonesia. He has been involved in education, specifically language education and professional skills training, for over 20 years across Europe, the Middle East and East Asia. Colm is passionate about equipping future leaders with the specific language skills, network and opportunities they need to drive transformative social economic change and develop solutions to global challenges.

Thank you so much for y'all's work.
Especially appreciate what Hala said about us NOT needing to be experts in climate change or environmental science to make important contributions- we are ALL part of the solution.
Have signed up for the Climate Action in Language Education course and am following closely on as many platforms as is possible.
