What are the self-study modules?

Module 1 – Teaching with digital resources

The aim of this module is to guide you through the main issues involved in teaching with digital resources. You'll evaluate a range of ways to implement digital technologies to support language learning, consider how digital tools support and enhance collaborative learning as well as review a range of digital tools and resources that encourage and support independent learning.

Module 2 – Formative assessment and feedback

The aim of this module is to guide you through the main issues involved in carrying out formative assessment and giving effective feedback. You'll consider how digital tools and resources can support formative assessment, review strategies for analysing evidence of learning using appropriate digital tools as well as review a range of digital tools that support teachers in collecting and analysing feedback from their learners. 

Module 3 – Professional engagement and development

This module will guide you through the use of digital tools and resources in supporting a range of professional duties and responsibilities beyond the classroom. You’ll explore the use of digital tools for effective communication, professional collaboration, reflective practice and continuing professional development.

You need to be enrolled on the course to access the self-study modules. The course is free and you can enrol by clicking on the link above.

You can access the modules by logging into TeachingEnglish, clicking/tapping the 'My Portfolio - my courses' tab. You have to follow the modules on our courses platform - you can't download the modules. You can download the course workbook from this page though - it has lots of useful links and resources to help you during and after the course.

To access the course modules, first you need to enrol in the course (click on the purple 'Enrol in this free course' button above).

Then you will see the 'My Portfolio' tab at the top of the page when you log in to TeachingEnglish Click or tap on that and then 'My courses' and the course will appear there. Then you can work through the course modules at your own pace.

Is the a diploma after taking the course?

After you complete all the modules successfully you will receive a certificate - this is automatically generated and you can download it from the courses platform.

I am trying to complete my classes, but I cannot find my courses. I am not even sure that I am successfully enrolled in the course.

Thanks for your message. I've just checked your account and you weren't enrolled. I've now registered you so you can start the course modules.

To access the modules, make sure you are logged in to your TeachingEnglish account. Then click/tap on 'My Portfolio - my courses'. You will now see the course there and you can click to start the modules.

Thanks for your comment. When you click to enrol you should be taken to our courses platform. There you will see a list of all currently available courses - you need to click to enrol in the ones that you are interested in taking -you might need to scroll down the page. If you look at the 'My courses' tab, you will see any courses you have already enrolled in.

Thanks for your comment. When you click to enrol you should be taken to our courses platform. There you will see the 'enrol in courses' button which takes you to a list of all currently available courses - you need to click to enrol in the ones that you are interested in taking -you might need to scroll down the page. If you look at the 'My courses' tab, you will see any courses you have already enrolled in.

I am sure that this course closed at 31/3/2026 and I am about to start today. But why the website said that this course open at 2/10/2026. Please help me, I need the certificate to my college

Hi, I have just seen this course, and although it closes in a few days, I wanted to enrol. However, there is no 'enrol' button. Can I still enrol at this point, please?

Thanks for your comment. Enrollment for this course is now closed, I'm afraid. Enrollment closes a week before the course end date to allow participants to complete all the modules. 

You can still download the course workbook (above) which has lots of useful links and resources related to the course themes.
