Booking a train ticket

In this lesson, students will listen to someone booking a train ticket. They will predict vocabulary, listen to the conversation and role-play the dialogue to practise their speaking skills. There are also suggestions for developing the theme of travel to practise specific areas of grammar.

Hi Elsull Right click on the play icon and choose 'save audio as' You can then save it on your computer. Cheers Del

The right clicking doesn't work on my Mac since I updated it, is there another way to download audio material?

Hi Cathy If right clicking doesn't work, you could try pressing CTRL and click - and then 'Save File As'. Hopefully that will work. Thanks Cath TE Team

Hi Jill The file seems to be working fine. If you have tried the suggestions (1. click on the play icon to play directly from the site, 2. Right click on the audio bar and then click 'Save As' to save to your computer), then could you try using a different browser (Firefox, Chrome, Safari etc) to see if that solves your problem? I have tried to click play, I have tried to save as to my computer, and it has been impossible for me to download or save the audio. I also have not been able to listen to the audio no matter how many times I click the play button. Are there any other instructions you can give me aside from the ones you have given the other people in the comments so that I can try it out? Thank you.

I'm sorry that you haven't been able to access the audio, I've just checked it on different devices and it loads so it might be that your device doesn't let it load/ can't let it load if you’ve already tried our advice above. Can you use another device to try to load it following those instructions? I hope you can use it in the end, let us know if you can!

On the top, you find the play button doesn't work. Just look down to find 'DOWNLOADS"- Click the fifth item- Booking a train ticket audio2.59 MB-it functions, you can listen and save but no download. Raj

may I know how to practice the idoms in the 1st exercise with the student ?

Hi Salma

Thanks for your comment and good question! This exercise is to get students thinking about the topic of transport whilst introducing them to these idioms. To practice, you could perhaps ask students to write their own short dialogue using the expressions in different contexts- this could be done as an extension exercise after the main listening. As you point out, the idioms are not directly related to the audio, they are there to give another vocabulary focus to the learners.
