Welcome to 'Gender in language education'

How will the course help you?

Learn to recognise different kinds of gender bias and stereotypes, some of the barriers learners face in gender equality and equity, and how to help overcome them in your context..

What does the course include?

Gender in language education is a self-study training course, which is divided into three hour modules. It also includes:

  • A dedicated Facebook community of course participants with up-to-date insight, resources and innovative ideas for you to try out.
  • Engaging discussions taking place in the Facebook community
  • Live events with your course tutor and language teaching experts.
  • A free workbook with extra learning content and resources.

What will you learn?

Module 1: Gender representation in teaching materials

This module will introduce you to the different kinds of gender bias and stereotypes which exist in language education. It's aimed at providing you with a general introduction to and understanding of the topic as well as helping you to recognise and evaluate these issues so that you can respond to them effectively in the classroom.

Module 2: Understanding gender equality in teaching practice

This module will introduce you to ways we often perceive gender differences in the classroom. It's aimed at breaking down common assumptions about the differences between gender in education, so that you can help all of your students achieve success.

Module 3: Working with gender equality in education

This module will introduce you to some of the progress that has been made, as well as some of the barriers people face in terms of gender equality and equity, and how these can be overcome and worked with on an individual as well as a global scale.

The course is free.

You will receive a certificate if you successfully complete all self-study modules.

It's a great pleasure for me to be among the members of this challenge.

First of all my name is Amadu Lamarana Bah Guinean by nationality , an English teacher.

As a good educator,a great teacher ,it's an obligation for me to follow this technical teaching procedure, gender education.

Seriously speaking I would like to improve my knowledge,my skill,I am curious to know, to discover how things are going on.

Nowadays the best weapons to fight against poverty and ignorance is to get a good and stong education.

So,the questions are :

What is a good education?

How can we get it?

Hello, everyone! I am so excited about this course because Gender and Development is very close to my heart. Being a teacher plus a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, it is very essential to have topics like these, being a catalyst for gender equality most especially in the field of education.
