Airport check-in

In this lesson, students will listen to someone checking in at an airport. They will predict vocabulary, listen to the conversation and role-play the dialogue to practise their speaking skills. There are also suggestions for developing the theme of travel to practise specific areas of grammar.

  • To improve students’ vocabulary and speaking skills specifically related to airports

Re-listening to this recording for airport check-in session picks up plenty memories deeply saved in my mind-sea. Several years ago, small Jason was taking his huge luggage singly passing-by Heathrow Airport and re-checking in to go to Newcastle. There were two hours that I needed to take all the steps including changing the Terminals to be 'in', taking passport&VISA - check, answering several interviewing questions about where I was going to, why I was going and what I was going to do, re-checking the security and making another departure to Newcastle. It's a little bit busier situation but as fully prepared before, I had totally fulfilled in them, solved all the unexpected problems, and even volunteering associated three other classmates (strangers) in taking several steps of this procedure. That day is beautiful with the senses of achievements, especially when I saw a sweet smile appearing on the face of one staff with the background of full sunlight penetrating the windows of airport. In that time, I was very confidential and bravely enough than the current one, with full of the honey dreams about the coming unknown future, its magical powers and colourful visions , after following sun's orbit for another extra 8 hours without the tiredness and sunset. I think: dreams as doves, will never fall but fly upon the white clouds; somehow, according to the rhythms, they are likely to be slower as taking some rests. However, the sky with adventures upon rains and storms will be their final home. Oh, so beautiful that my words touched my own heart. Getting back to our topic, what I merely want to express is: Students and friends, from my participant-observations, taking the good check-in and check-out sessions can give you a good memory of your oversea study and work, or a good impression of your coming new life in some other places far away from home town......

Hello Team TE What is the purpose of transcript cut up? How can I use it?
Hi Pavan The cut up transcript is to use during the second time you listen to the audio. The students try to put the dialogue in order as they listen. The suggested lesson instructions are in the lesson plan. Hope that helps, Cath
