Recently I had an opportunity to interact with a group of teachers who teach English at the tertiary level.

The occasion was an ELT conference.   

Out of curiosity I tried to find out how many teachers have taken part in online discussion and whether they are interested in it.  To my surprise, none of them has heard about 'blogs' and not even one has taken part in any discussion forums.  They have not published any article or research paper.  Very few have the habit of sending emails.

How can we teach writing effectively if we teachers do not have the habit of writing? Or are we too busy to write and publish?  Or do we lack motivation?
