This unit is designed to introduce students to Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood. It gives students the opportunity to explore the language in the first paragraphs of the play and also to use it as a springboard for their own creative writing.

  • To introduce students to one of Dylan Thomas’ most famous prose works
  • To engage students with Thomas’ work and encourage extensive reading

  • To help students expand their vocabulary with a focus on compound adjectives and word formation
  • To give students opportunities to develop the four skills, especially reading and writing
  • To give students the opportunity to do some creative writing
