In this lesson students listen to an extract from Dickens' work, do a vocabulary matching task, take part in a discussion based on the listening and then focus on intonation.

Level: B1+

Age group: Older teens/adults

Timing: 60 mins approx

Aims:

  • To encourage students to use existing knowledge in deducing meaning from textual context.
  • For students to practise listening for detail.    
  • For students to practice expressing meaning through intonation.
