Richard Rossner - Assessing language teaching competences: the potential of the European Profiling Grid

This webinar outlines the background and aims of the European Profiling Grid (EPG) and looks at how practising teachers and teacher educators of any language can assess competences in order to identify areas to develop further.

About the webinar

The fundamental aim of the European Profiling Grid (EPG), which has just been released following a two-year project, is to foster language teacher development by enabling practising teachers of any language regularly to assess their own competences in order to identify areas where they may wish and/or need to develop further. At the same time, it can be used by those managing and supporting language teachers in carrying out their own assessments so as to create profiles of teachers or an overview of their whole teaching team. For teacher trainers and mentors, the EPG can be a valuable aid in planning teacher development and in-service training.

In this webinar, the background and aims of the EPG and the layout and content of both its printed and digital versions are outlined. This is followed by a summary of ways in which the EPG can be used and a question-answer session.
