Professional development for English language teachers: Perspectives from higher education in Turkey

In this collection you will find valuable insight into Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in different contexts in Turkey.

Edited by Simon Borg

This collection is drawn from papers and presentations at the Ideals and Realities: Continuing Professional Development for Preparatory Year Instructors conference in Hacettepe University, Ankara, in 2014. The eight case studies in this volume describe how CPD has been managed in different institutional contexts in Turkey.

The approaches used cover a very broad range of options, and the British Council hopes that the volume will provide valuable insight for anyone interested in CPD in their own contexts and offer a means to reflect on and refresh practice for the benefit of teachers, trainers, and their students.

I deliver Lectures in evening classes at SELF (Sialkot English Language Forum). I suggest my new students to work on verb and noun basis-approach to double the words they already have. For example: word "GO" means to leave a place for another place. This is a verb base approach. Now when we approach to "GO" with noun approach it gives us another meanings i.e in the meanings of to have your turn in some game. For example: Now it is your go to climb up the tree. Use this technique and see its miracles yourself.
