This lesson looks at multiculturalism. Access the face-to-face classroom and online teaching version of the materials. 

Introduction:

There's a school in Cardiff, the capital city of Wales, where more than twenty languages are spoken. That's a truly multicultural school! This lesson raises students’ awareness of the UK’s cultural diversity by watching a short video on LearnEnglish Teens. Students practise listening skills while watching the video, they discuss related topics in small groups, and then they read and talk about comments posted on the LearnEnglish Teens site.

Aims:

  • To help talk about cultural diversity in Britain and in their own country
  • To develop students’ listening skills
  • To develop students’ speaking skills
  • To develop students’ reading skills

Teenage/ young adult

B1 / Intermediate+

To support teachers having to work online during the COVID-19 pandemic, this lesson has been adapted for teachers providing online classes. The lesson notes are specifically for online lessons and the class materials have been made available as a PowerPoint.

Included in the teachers' notes, there is guidance and advice for what teachers need to know and do before and at the beginning of an online class. Please read the lesson instructions carefully before using them. They are for guidance only, and designed to be used with the most common online platforms. You may need to adapt the lesson to the format and online platform you are working with.

If you click on "classroom materials" above (just below the lesson plan and worksheet)- that's the Powerpoint. It's in PDF so that it is easier for everyone to open.

Multicultural characteristic is a fantastical tail all-inclusitvely welcoming all peaceful people and sopporting their endeavored fields, without the prejudices from races, genders,vocations, social positions, situations, ages, politics and religions... only if they can use hearts to do things 'good', in diversity...

That's what UK academy & Education attracts many people all around the world... I have been always believing in it for long...
