Materials and methodology: How to encourage students to speak out
In this video, Saima Iqbal from Pakistan and Indu Mehta from India describe how students who have interesting ideas to share are reluctant to communicate their ideas or speak out in the classroom.
Indu stresses the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment in which students can feel free to express themselves and their opinions without fear of making mistakes or being ridiculed by their peers.
Reflection and discussion
One of the purposes of these resources is to help you with your own teacher development in related contexts. The questions in task 1 and task 2 are designed for you to think about and discuss with colleagues, either informally or as part of your formal professional development.
