Whether you are a teacher, a teacher trainer or an ELT manager, this session is relevant to your work. Coaching and mentoring skills are techniques used to help people achieve their goals, whether those are language learning goals, or professional development objectives, or career ambitions.

This session provides a summary of both coaching and mentoring. We will cover some of the underlying principles and look at the skills and techniques you need to develop and how to get started. We consider how to be a successful coachee as well as effective coach, as it is essential to be a willing and reflective coachee before you can succeed in coaching and mentoring others! If you have an open mind, are a keen learner, and want to help others to become more confident and competent in achieving their goals, watch this introductory session!

About the speaker

Loraine Kennedy is an ELT educational consultant, based now in the UK. She offers consultancy and training services both in the UK and overseas. She has been involved in the ELT profession for 24 years with both public and private institutions. She is also the secretary on the IATEFL Leadership and Management SIG committee. Her career development path has taken her from teacher to senior manager and educational advisor, across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Her work focuses on people and school development and CPD project work, both F2F, and through digital learning technologies and communities.
