On Saturday 5 October 2019, the British Council and IATEFL co-hosted a one-day web conference to celebrate World Teachers Day.

About the talk

Our team show you selected highlights of the British Council's LearnEnglish Kids, LearnEnglish Teens and LearnEnglish websites which offer free, self-access learner materials that can also be put to excellent use in the classroom. We give you our ten top tips for making the most of the materials with your learners. Whether you teach children, teenagers or adults, you'll find something new to take into your classroom on Monday morning!

About the speakers

Joanna Budden is the content manager of the British Council’s LearnEnglish websites. She was responsible for the launch of LearnEnglish Teens and now manages the Kids and LearnEnglish website content too, with her team of coordinators. She’s the author of Teen World (a book of communicative activities) and co-author of Interactive, a coursebook for secondary, published by Cambridge University Press.

Joanna Gore is a teacher, teacher trainer and materials-writer whose special interests include teaching teenagers, CLIL, project-based learning and humanistic, meaning-driven approaches to language teaching. She works as a coordinator for the British Council's LearnEnglishTeens and LearnEnglish websites.

Jonathan Rickard is a teacher and trainer originally from London and now based in Hong Kong. He works with students, teachers, business people and people in all walks of life who learn and use English in pursuit of their goals. He is especially interested in motivation, technology and exam contexts.

Kirk Moore studied the history of religions, translation and applied linguistics. He taught English and Spanish in the Americas and began teaching English in Spain in 2007. He lives near Barcelona, where he enjoys teaching teenagers at the British Council and working as a coordinator for LearnEnglish.
