Welcome to 'Language for resilience: Teaching English to refugees and displaced learners
As part of our programme to recognise and celebrate World Refugee Day on 20 June, join our Language for Resilience online course for teachers. Throughout the course you will learn effective strategies and techniques to help make your classroom a safe environment. You will learn about the following:
- How to create a trauma-sensitive learning environment
- How to work with limited resources
- How to manage challenging behaviour.
About the course
- Module 1: An introduction to trauma and its effects on the classroom
-
By the end of this module, you will:
- be able to define trauma and understand its possible causes
- be able to reflect on the effects on learning and behaviour in the classroom through examples of students and consider the role of the teacher in endings and transitions
- learn some interesting ways to create physical and emotional safety through basic strategies
- Module 2: Teaching with minimal resources
-
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- identify the resources available in the classroom.
- use a variety of activities when teaching with limited resources and adapt an activity for a particular teaching context
- analyse the advantages and disadvantages of different activities and be more resourceful when faced with a low-resource context
- Module 3: Dealing with very challenging behaviour
-
By the end of this module, you will:
- be able to understand behaviour as a communication of need – asking what has happened to you rather than what’s wrong with you.
- be able to recognise unconscious defence mechanisms: breaking negative patterns of interaction: choosing a different response.
- learn some practical classroom strategies to manage meaningful communication and interactions.

Hi Abdulwahab.93
Have you tried logging out , making sure you are logged out in all devices and perhaps clear cache. this usually sorts out access problems. If not can you take a screen shot and contact the technical team through the help button on the site?
I hope that sorts it and you can continue the course,
Anne
