An investigation into English Medium Instruction in higher education in Thailand and Vietnam

This English Language Teaching Research Awards (ELTRA) study examines EMI in Vietnam and Thailand.

Building on a previous British Council ELTRA project (Galloway et al., 2017) in East Asia, this research provides insights into EMI policy in these contexts, the driving forces behind EMI, how it is implemented and the attitudes of core stakeholders towards this growing trend. The study has important implications for HE entrance requirements, language support, teacher recruitment and training, EMI curricula, language use, EMI and educational access and equity, and research-informed policy.

The report is available to download in pdf format below.

The questionnaires, interview and focus group questions are also available for download.
