Use this creative lesson to develop planning, teamworking and presentation skills among primary learners of CEFR Level A1+.

Introduction

In this lesson, learners think about some of the features of their own country, then work together in groups to brainstorm ideas for a new country. Then they work in new groups to plan and produce a poster for their new country and use it to present their country to the class. There is an assumption that learners will have already studied some related language and are familiar with the present simple and simple conjunctions such as 'so' and 'because'. 

A worksheet is available for this lesson, but alternatives are suggested for a no-printing option. 

Learning outcomes:

  • Use vocabulary related to describing a country in speaking and writing
  • Develop planning and teamworking skills
  • Present an invented country to classmates

9-12 (A1+)

In addition you will need materials for posters: paper, coloured pencils, glue, scissors, etc. (set per group of learners) and A3 paper (one sheet per group)

It made me think of my introductory course of language and postgraduate course for international students in UK... Yes... life is usually like a small piece of spring which you are going along from childhood in your nature... round and round, then rising up a little bit by a little bit... I think: from the original nature of a kid, knowing other countries and people who is living in, would be for the curiosity of befriending more new people, and playing in his or her game, more happily and with more fresh feelings... Therefore, we should take this core round and round - to open more, expand and rise up... A little bit by a little bit, we will have found we were growing up...
