Escape #3 is a complete set of teaching resources designed around an interesting and unusual photograph with activities to activate your students' higher level critical thinking skills.

This pack looks at the topic of unusual gifts, famous places and a particular focus on London. Students will practise their speaking skills, in particular using language to make and justify choices. They will also practise using language to make predictions.

The materials to accompany this pack are designed to be used with lower level students (A2-B1).

Each pack in this series includes an audio recording of the photographer talking about their photo, together with a complete downloadable lesson plan on how to exploit the image and the audio. There are downloadable student worksheets and a full-size copy of the image.

In this lesson, students are asked to do the following:

  • Research and speak about aspects of London
  • Listen for specific information
  • Give reasons for their decisions (speaking skills)
  • Make predictions about a text using key words (writing skills)
  • Use learner-generated materials as language practice and to create interest in a listening text
  • Speak about their home town or region.

Sally

What a great idea!
Thanks to the BC staff for such teaching materials!

Good morning!
It is 10:50 am in Porto Velho Capital of Rondonia state in Brazil.
First of all, I would like to thank the Teachers' British Council Time for the English lessons which ones
are avaliable on the internet for whom it may be interested to learn the english language with the native speakers beyond the globe.
And secondly, I am passionate to english language. So I would like to know if it is possible to have the audio lesson downloadable each time you email me Plan lesson. The reason is my listening need to be improved parallel with writing.
I cannot afford it in market. Also I have been using the lessons to help me and help others to learn basic english.
Regards,
Elaine da Silva Morais

I think the students will enjoy when they use Audio (MP3)
