Computer-based testing, or CBT, is testing using a computer for all or part of the test. Computer-based testing is cheaper, more accessible and easier to administer than manual forms of testing but there are limitations, as CBT which evaluates speaking or writing still requires human examiners.

IELTS now has computer-based versions, and the TOEFL is now a computer-based test.
