This activity provides short listening practice based around a dialogue in a workplace.

In this lesson, students will listen to someone asking a colleague out on a date. They will match phrases and rearrange a dialogue. There are also suggestions for developing the theme of dating to practise specific areas of grammar.


• To practise listening skills
• To improve students’ vocabulary and speaking skills

Age / level:

• A2-B1 Adults and teens


• 30 minutes plus time to develop the theme

Dating Game -  This is a great activity for getting students talking. I have used it successfully with many different levels and age groups and have found that it is very effective at motivating teenagers to talk.

My apologies for that. I've now changed it for the correct file. I think I may have been jumping the gun a bit. Normally for me the break up happens soon after I ask someone out on a date but not before!!!

You can find the audio file in the downloads - it is at the bottom, below the worksheets. It's an MP3 file which you can click on and play directly, or save to your computer.
