      Svetlana Hanusova, Czech Republic

Svetlana was trained in traditional teaching methods. Her experience of observing a trainee teacher trained in modern methodology inspired her to change her teaching approach. For Svetlana the best way to develop is to focus on learning and the learners.

It is interesting that in both this and the interview with Harshwardhan Kadepurka there is a strong focus on the difference between 'teaching' and 'learning'.

This difference is now becoming of great interest to methodologists and it is interesting how such a potentially small semantic focus can dramatically change what actually goes on in the classroom.

I definitely agree with developing yourselves as teachers to better reach those who are learning.  Developments in teaching practices should be ever evolving and consistent with the needs of the students.

How else would one make the biggest impact on those around them.  Always strive for more and never be satisfied with the accomplishments of yesterday!

Yes, we can do practically everything in teaching a language. Reflecting ourselves and our personality is one of the most important thing that we can do in teaching. Think about not what we need as a teacher but what they need as a learner. Ask questions, listen carefully and provide learners what they want.
