Melvin Burgess

This kit focuses on the work of the popular children's author Melvin Burgess. It explores a little about the man as well as giving some insight into his books. The materials were intended for ELT students between the ages of 14 - 18 with an upper-intermediate level, but can easily be adapted to suit other levels and age groups.

About BritLit
This kit like its companions, based on author Romesh Gunesekera and poets Levi Tafari, Benjamin Zephaniah and Menna Elfyn, concentrates on the work of an author rather than on a particular piece of writing or text. The original purpose behind these kits was to prepare students for 'Animating literature' events when the authors visit schools and work with the students. Used flexibly these kits will give students and their teachers enough information to understand something of the author and their works and therefore be able to make the most intelligent use of the visit.

Visits to schools by authors are usually arranged by the local British Council office. If you want to discuss this possibility for your school then please first contact your local British Council office.
