Lesson self-evaluation
What is it?
This is a reflective process that helps you to review lessons you have
taught, to help you identify what went well and what you may need to
change or improve.
When?
It is best to do it as soon as possible after a lesson, whilst it is still fresh in your mind.
How?
Ask yourself questions such as these:
- What went well/why?
- What did not go well/why?
- What changes do I need to make?
- What have I learnt?
Alternatively, you can choose one focus. For example:
- Managing group/pair work
- Amount of time learners speak in English
- Effectiveness of instructions
- Success of materials/aids
- Timings of activities
- Balance of activities
- Board work
You can also do this by keeping a teacher diary, or by getting learner feedback.
