Networking and events
Interest in the place of literature in the English language classroom is growing among EFL teachers. There have always been a significant minority who have espoused the cause, and it has never been easier to keep in touch than today.
- One of the key connecting organisations internationally is the IATEFL Literature, Media and Cultural Studies special interest group. Members can join discussions, read and contribute to the SIG magazine, attend special pre-conference events and generally keep in touch with like-minded people from around the world.
- The British Council organises events which bring together teachers and writers, the most significant of which is the biennial Cambridge Seminar. The next one is in 2011.
- A major international conference on children’s literature in language education is being held in Hildesheim, Germany in February 2010. It will be fully covered here on TeachingEnglish.
