LearnEnglish Kids for Parents
Submitted by Rob Lewis on 27 April, 2011 - 11:48
LearnEnglish Kids is the British Council's website for children who are learning English as a second or foreign language. The site has free resources for children to use at home, either independently or with family members or friends, and now there are new pages for parents to help their children make the most of the resources.
The site is here:http://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/en/parents and includes
- a new forum where parents can ask each other questions about how to help their child learn English
- a learning resources search - an easy way to find fun activities for parents to do with their children
- articles written by language learning experts
- short video clips to help you use English in the home

Dear Rob
Could we possibly have LearnEnglish Parents available in Spanish too? Most parents here in Spain can't speak English well enough to access the site and it would get them more involved in their children's learning. Local ICT Coodinators or Senior Teachers who speak the language could also write to parents' academic queries from time to time in the L1. It would make more sense from a customer service point of view.
What do you think?
Dear Rob... That is very interesting and I am sure it would be very useful.. I am not a teacher but I teach english at an Islamic Boarding School named Tarbiyatul Banin... I find what you have posted is very useful to me.. Thank you...

Thanks both of your for your messages.
TeachEd - I agree with you regarding L1, but I'm afraid Spanish isn't yet available. There are currently five translations, and although it isn't planned right now, hopefully Spanish will be added in future.
All the best
Rob
Dear Rob. This is wonderful. My students use this site and they love it. I hope in future in my country parents also will actively use this site and learn with their children. It is very important when parents take active part in their kids' education and this is fun to learn with family members. It was fun for me to learn Russion with my father when I was a kid.
