Free training videos on elt-training

Elt-training is a web site that aims to provide training support for trainee and novice English language teachers as well as more experienced teachers, too. There are short video films about wide-ranging topics. For example recent films have been about ‘Setting up activities’, ‘Using authentic materials’ and ‘Grammar teaching’. A new video is published every month.

Bangladesh calls up 1m mobile phone lessons

The BBC World Service Trust says that its Janala project to provide English language lessons via mobile phones in Bangladesh has delivered more than 1m lessons in its first three months.

2014 Doctoral Dissertation Grants competition

TIRF – The International Research Foundation for English Language Education – is pleased to announce its 2014 Doctoral Dissertation Grants competition in partnership with the British Council. Grants of up to US $5,000 will be made to successful applicants. The application deadline is May 16, 2014.

The Fair List, UK

Set up in 2013, The Fair List, is an annual award. It celebrates excellence in gender balance of plenary speakers, presenters or speaker panels at UK ELT events.
