      Making time for new words

When we are working with a text that has a lot of new words, like many teachers I try to limit the number to discuss with my learners, as too many can be counter-productive. But I also try to remember that my learners like new language, and are motivated to identify it and discover its meaning. I try to avoid saying ‘Don’t worry about the new language’ and always plan time to discuss it. I make sure my learners understand that trying to learn a lot of new words is hard, but I don’t deny them the opportunity.
