      Getting to know new coursebooks
I find it is always worth taking time to explore a new coursebook when we start working with it so I sometimes take a whole class to do this and prepare a variety of activities for my learners including quizzes and mini-presentations on features of the new material. This book will be the main resource for the learners for a significant period of time and I think they should really know what they have in front of them.

Before any reading or any activity with vocabulary students are not used with, I usually underline words before and write them on the board, giving many examples and asking them to use in conversations. When we get back to the activity it's much better to understand the whole context.
