Classroom management

Classroom management refers to the decisions a teacher makes regarding the physical environment and resources available to them, including furniture, resources, learners and themselves. These decisions are made to support the aims of the class.

Example
The decision to put individual tables together into one big circle for an open class discussion supports the aim of involving all learners in the activity.

In the classroom:
Different classroom activities require very different management and an essential part of planning is to make decisions about areas such as learner groupings, teacher involvement, positioning of furniture where possible, instruction giving and timing.
