For me a good teacher is the one who gets his students interested and makes them take responsibility for their learning by involving them in making the classroom a positive atmosphere for learning. I would say also a good teacher is the teacher who helps his students understand with the least effort.

A good teacher is well trained, equipped and knowledgeable. He/she studies and understands learners' educational needs both in the classroom and out. As a teacher in the class he/she is a facilitator in shaping learners' characters and helping them to realise their dreams.

What makes a good teacher, in my opinion, is his/her capacity of making the student like the subject, learn it, and broaden his vision about the world. All my best teachers were those who, besides having an amazing expertise in their field, used to make me think about the world we live in. I had incredible teachers whose guidance, until today, has helped me see things that happen in my life and in the world. Therefore, for me, what makes a good teacher is the capacity of helping the student grow as a full human being: ethical, responsive, intelligent, altruistic, and skilled.

...is friendly, explains things, let students do it by themselves, does the lesson toghether with his/her students, elicits constantly, talks about the institutions positively, plays games, tells jokes, is one of us (students point of view), doesn't push weak learners, asks students opinions, and many many more things...

I can't remember who said it, but one of my favourite quotes is, "A good teacher makes the children glad it's Monday."

A good teacher is the one who has a heart for the good of her learners, a friend, a confidant and is sensitive to the physical, emotional and mental being of her learners. She knows the learner's needs.

A good teacher is one who understands the students without any bias, and can communicate on their level, understand them and take the manifestation of many roles like parent, friend, counsellor. More than that it is a person who can be approached at any time confidently with problems not confined to her/his subject alone. She must gain the confidence of the students and at the same time she must be assertive but not authoritative.
Marta Arevalo, Guatemala
Beyond providing the tools that her specific subject requires her to give, a good teacher inspires and allows the student to discover and express himself. A good teacher is genuinely interested in her students as humans.

A good teacher is the one who is fully prepared for his/her class in advance. As teachers expect their students to be prepared for learning the new lesson, the students expect their teachers to be prepared for teaching.
Khalid AL-Khalifa, Sudan
What makes a teacher good is his character, his understanding of his students needs, his interaction, his enthusiasm and his emotional and psychological coorrelation with his job. A good teacher is the one who adopts the princple of 'our class' and not 'my class', the one who is neither permissive nor a dictator. He is the only person that can put the students on the positive track not the negative one.
A good teacher is the one who bears responsibilities with honesty and sincerity, he is kind and warm-hearted for almost all the time and strict at some time. A good teacher is the one who plants the seeds of morals and values amongst students.
Yordanka Brunet Valle, Cuba
A good teacher is the one who is able to interact with his/her students all the time, helping them to acquire the knowledge and the skills, by means of materials such as books or using technology as a key support for increasing their motivation and interest in the subject. A good teacher also encourages learners to speak in class without feeling afraid of his/her correction. A good teacher must love the students as the first issue and then teach.
