Interesting ideas to teach clauses

Hi,
I really love this question and answer session as it gives me hoards of input to teach English to Indian kids who are not at all exposed to English.

Could I get some interesting ideas or activities to teach 'clauses' to my kids please?

Hi,

I would like to help you but I´m not sure what kind of clause you want to teach.

If you tell me the type of clauses, I can give you some advice.

When teaching clauses, I rely on a short biography of a famous figure. This serves a double advantage. It contextualizes the grammar points and gives us enough material to practice all types of clauses, in addition to having authentic instances of using clauses to talk about this famous person. Adjective clauses and conditionals work very well using this contextualization of grammar structures. I have students in groups highlight target structures;then, they create their own sentences mirroring the ones in the test. Rania
