I really enjoyed listening to the presentation. Examples are very interesting and practical, and above all, applicable.

Considering motivation and the role of the teacher, I wanted to share the opinion of students what do they think the 'great' teacher should be like. I came across this 'image'  while making a presentation about motivation for teachers, and I liked it a lot.

It tells a lot how teachers should show a genuine interest in their students' interests and abilities, and how important is that from the position of student.

       PUPILS SAY A GREAT TEACHER:

      -is kind.

      -is generous.

      -listens to you.

      -has faith in you.

      -encourages you.

      -keeps confidence.

      -likes teaching students.

      -likes teaching the subject.

      -takes time to explain things.

-helps you when you are stuck.

-tells you how you are doing.

-allows you to have your say.

      -doesn’t give up on you.

      -cares for your opinion.

      -makes you feel clever.

      -treats people equally.

      -stands up for you.

      -makes allowances.

      -tells the truth.

      -is forgiving.

In the words of Jane Austen:

'I am no longer surprised at you knowing only half a dozen such [people] - I rather wonder at you knowing any!'

      But we can try anyway...

I also think the list of teacher attributes is a good one. It's also almost impossible to maintain all those attributes over an entire career without involving the students in some responsibility to create a positive classroom atmosphere.

Taking into account that Ken's talk focused on pupils'/students' motivation. He did a great job on my motivation as a teacher - killing two birds with one stone!

      Thank you Ken and BC

I really appreciated Ken Wilson's presentation. Thank you for all these motivational ideas:

It's a good way to motivate teachers too, because not only students can get bored ... sometimes!!

Have a good weekend you teachers out there!

Brilliant seminar, with great ideas that we probably all know we should be using.  Has remotivated me at a point where I'm getting tired and feel that I'm running out of ideas.  Thanks for a great seminar - worth the 50 minutes of my time on a Sunday afternoon!

Really enjoyed watching that! Thank you! Brilliant ideas and points!! I have been teaching in Italy for 10 years and Italian kids/teenages are quite difficult to motivate at times and hopefully these ideas work!
