I'm trying to include scenes from films in my lessons to help pique the interest of my high schoolers. However, I often find it a little difficult to find scenes related to the topic I'm teaching.
First of all, does anyone know of any sites that have scenes indexed by topic? Secondly, it may be helpful for others to have some sort of list of useful scenes for some of the common topics that students study: meeting someone, making plans, future jobs, etc.
Here's an example: We recently did a chapter on school life. I used the scene from Mean Girls that starts with, "Is that your natural hair color?" (The scene has some introductions, a few school subjects, and a glimpse at school life.)
Now I'm trying to do a lesson called "Are you okay?" about sickness, etc. Any movie scene suggestions?
(For those interested, my school life lesson involving the movie went like this--scene vocab, watch introduction of the movie with Japanese subtitles, turn off picture at chosen scene and do cloze activity, listen again at 75% speed (VLC player), watch without subtitles, watch with English subtitles, watch with Japanese subtitles, hand out dialogue with blank spaces so students can make their own skit based on the dialogue they've heard five times.)
