Research tells us that different students have different learning styles
How do you cater to the different learning styles of your students?

Identifying the learning styles by learners themselves is a complex task as most of the learners are not aware of these. On the part of the teachers identifying lthe learning styles of various learners present in their classrooms could be an enormous task as most of the time teachers are busy in identifying the right kind of pedagogy and methodology to teach the learners in the classroom. I personally feel that we need to empower both the teachers and learners about different learning styles with examples in each case. Such an exercise would help not only teachers who are ignorant of different learning styles of various learners but also helps them in planning their lessons in a better way. The learners would also be helped by this exercise as they will associate themselves with the particular style with which they are able to understand the subject matter. Further, it provides an opportunity to the learners to experiment with different learning styles, though it may indeed be difficult, yet a few of them could be successful with different learning styles.

There's a good lesson plan here on the TE site which helps learner identify their learning styles.

There is also an article on learning styles on the site and an activity - check the Editor's Links and Similar Links blocks on the right hand side of this page for links to related content.
As for me, i try to use come up with different acitivities each weak or month for my class.
The students in the same class will be doing the same activity. It means that I do not conduct different activities for different students during the same period of lesson.
There are advantages and disadvantages of doing so. The advantages are students will be treated equally, the students with lower proficiency level can be motivated and pushed to compete with the advanced level students, they will become more independent in their learning, and it saves time.
On the other hand, some of the students who have short attention span cannot focus on one task for the whole lesson, some students come to class with different expectations on classroom activity and some even have different understanding about the activity.
Therefore, I try to use different type of activities for the classes I teach and I try to focus on one type of activity per class.
