      Conversation lesson - Music

      During this skills lesson you might want to use background music where facilities allow. You will also need some samples of music, not necessarily just in English, but a variety of different genres

      Topic: Music

      Age: Teenage/adult

      Level:       B1/B2

      Timing: around 2 hours

      Aims:

      • To develop fluency through a range of speaking activities
      • To introduce related vocabulary

      Thank you the ideas. I am putting a ten lesson course together about music and the music industry.  Your conversation lesson is good baiss for that. The only real difference is they will interview real musicans and real venues and finish with a live performance.

      Great ideas here. As a follow up activity I adapted your idea of the record company, and asked students to do a presentation about an idea they had for a festival (after having read and done a few things with this article on Glasto from the BBC learning English bit- http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/newsenglish/britain/su... ) I let them run free with their imagination, giving this rough framework- 4 + artists (2 from those listened to earlier) A location How much does it cost? How much are artists paid? Is there anything extra? A circus, theatre, children's area, a theme... They work in groups of about 2-4 and then present their idea to the rest of the class.
