Yikes! Speaking course!
Submitted by jd1202 on 29 September, 2008 - 14:28
Morning, afternoon, evening all!
Desparately seeking resources and ideas!
I've just been given a 'FCE level speaking course'. Twice a week, 2 hours a lesson for a total of 40 hours!
It's not an exam prep group - just titled FCE to give students an idea of level required.
Student numbers from 14-16 , ages from 18-60 , no book
I think I can manage to get through about twenty hours, but after that I'll be seriously stuck for ideas.
I don't think I can change the focus more than twice per lesson so I need some extended fluency/accuracy/functional exercises for groups
Please help with any good links you know or your favourites
Thanks

Hi there!
I have been also given a speaking course at the beginning of the term and seeked for ideas..Finally I found one and want to share my most liked technique with you ,it's sceniero creating.I have my students watch a video, movie or sth like that without showing the end of it and then want them to talk about the end of the film. It can be carried out through group work and pair work.At the end of this activity, even my shyest students start to speak in english eagerly..It really encourages interaction-communication.I hope it will work for you, too.
