1. Depends. A lot of teachers I know teach their students ridiculous little ditties that don't teach much. That is NOT how it should be used. When song is used to learn mathematics or concepts otherwise harder to learn, like fake watches, I give it a 3.

4. I think music is even more useful when teaching a foreign language. Most people and children like music, and even when I was learning a foreign language at university, it really REALLY helped to learn songs in that language, because its an aid to pick it up faster.
My answers are:

2. YES (every week we have A SONG DAY. An interesting 20 minutes' activity based on the song is always very challenging for my students.)
3. D (My teacher used the method and I found it quite effective in learning English, so I do the same for my students, and I can see that they find it quite effective as well.)
4. For me it's an effective way of revising and checking vocabulary and grammar. Besides it's quite motivating for the students.

3. C: I teach in higher education and my Ss regard this as babyish... I have long given up!
4. advantages: work on vocabulary and phonoligical features; enjoyable/funny, allowing Ss to relax indeed; cultural aspect if the songs chosen belong to an English-speaking country; very flexible approach is possible in terms of tasks and activities (prediction from the title, gap fill, reordering, matching...); memory.
