Translation/vocabulary
Submitted by LiaMaria on 2 April, 2010 - 16:08
Hi,
I am a teacher of EFL in Germany.
Recently I've been talking about climate change with my students.
Now I came across the word "development campaigners". You cannot translate it literally into German.
We say "Entwicklungshelfer" that would be "development (aid) worker".
So please, can anyone tell me what's the difference between "development campaiger" and "development (aid) worker"?
I'm looking forward to your replies.
Best wishes
LiaMaria

Hey LiaMaria
Greetings from the AngloAmerican Foundation.
Campaigners refer more to promoters, sponsors and advertisers
Aid workers refer merely to staff physically involved.
Hope it helps
