Technology and teaching
Submitted by sohy.ahmed on 19 March, 2009 - 15:11
Hi teachers all over the world,
I've been trained to use ICT in which we were taught how to exploit ICT in teaching and make good use of the computer and the internet . Really it's exciting and more attractive to have a ppt lesson or a word or excel exercise but sometimes I return back to the traditional methods of teaching as plan B sometimes forces me to do that. I can't deny that it works . The traditional methods work they are still used but we need also technology to follow up with the latest development in our work . What do you think of that ?
Cheers

What attracts me to the use of technology in the classroom, Soher is that it is now both an integral part of our students' world and offers the teacher the opportunity of easily bringing in the outside world to the classroom (if you have an Internet connection and data projector, for example) - I think this is more interesting than technology for technology's sake.
What I'm really hoping will happen soon is the ability to easily connect with other learners in other parts of the world. It's happening in a few classrooms in an ad-hoc way, but I think it would benefit students if more classrooms were connected to others. This is one of the reasons I like this site - it's great for stimulating debate and getting different teachers from around the world communicating with each other. We should do more of that with our learners if you ask me.

Hi Graham,
Thank you for your posting and I thank you also for clarifying my idea as technology for the sake of technology doesn't bring any benefit to either the teacher or the learner but if both make good use of it in the teaching process I think it will turn the lessons into an attractive one and the students will never get bored with learning Thank you for your reply . Cheers
