Students are best teachers to a teacher
Submitted by small9 on 31 March, 2010 - 09:47
I've Just started teaching English as a 2nd language to local students in China...As a 'green' teacher, I found that my students are the best teachers to me! I learn how to teach and I learn how to learn from them. In a way, I benefit the most from being with them. I love Ss!

That's really true! I learned a lot at the teaching training college but it was experience what taught me how to manage a group and how to deliver a class acordingly. Indeed it was the students who showed me how to be a "better teacher".
I started to teach just now and I could perceive how students help us to learn more and better. Teachers commited with theirs students study a lot to be a good teacher for them. I've learned many things about English as a language and about teachers. Every day I learn something very nice to improve my career and my knowledge.
...a big hug to Lorena & MareDv! We shall continue our learning through teaching... Wish you all the best!
As teachers we need to keep an open mind. The English Language is an ocean by itself and the best we can do as teachers is to become better with each passing day. Since our delivery is focussed on the students it is imperative to keep ourselves updated on all apects of the Englih Language. The young generation of today has got easy access to any kind of information they want. Moreover, they are not the type who will keep quiet and relate with whatever inputs you share with tem. They will have lot of questions and queries for which you need to be prepared. If you are not able to answer their questions, it will seriously affect your reputation.
However if the question is not valid or related or if you feel there is a deviation from the topic under discussion you should cut them off then and there and not encourage any further communication.
The bottomline line is to be on your toes.
yeah definitely agree! I love my students because nothing pushes me to learn more than teaching. their curiosity just makes me learn more and more about all aspects of life!
I think a teacher improve for to be a teacher because she study for the students understand her or him. When a teacher don´t know a topic she/he teach bad. therefore he need to learn the topic and teach the student good
This is so true and has been a blessing for my teaching career. I teach a chemistry class at a local communitiy college and when I started my firrst semester I must say I was a bit nervous. the students were great though and in that first semester I was really the student of the students! To this day I am still learning so much from the people that I teach.
Thanks for this discussion.
