Well Emine, I have used a speaking activity tha gave me good results. This is an activity where students have to give their opinion. The activity is the following:

Explain students that there is a hot air balloon with 6 people in the sky. This hot air balloon is falling down at full speed and they have the chance to save three people from the hot air balloon. This are the passengers:

      a farmer

      a housewife

      a doctor

      a teacher

      a priest

      a little boy

Ask them: Who would you save to? Students have to give reasons to save people they chose.

      Dear Emine,

With different age-groups, I have been asking students to report something interesting that they have read in the newspaper or heard on the Television. They can use the vocabulary displayed in the media. The others are interested because it is about some current topic. It develops the speaker's confidence.

I think teaching speaking is one of the important skills we need to focus on. The best way to teach speaking skill is to use the brainstorming technique, to use this technique you need first to prepare a picture in advance. Teacher shows the students that picture by asking them some questions about the picture then the students should response .... regards

You have not mentioned the profile of your students in terms of their age. You can try out all the activities mentioned below, to make your students comfortable

      Group Discussions

Take any topic which appeals to them. Ensure that each and every student speaks during the discussion. Make it very clear to the whole group, that no student will interrupt, when a student is speaking. You can have two or three rounds. If any student gets caught, make sure you help the student with his speech. It is also very vital to ensure that the discussion, does not get converted into a debate. You need to put all the smarties in their place.

      Chain Story Telling

Ask your students to sit in a circle. One student starts narrating a story. He is allowed to speak only one sentence. You can then call out the name of any student who has to continue with the story. Encourage the students to make the story, as creative and as funny as possible. This activity will also hone their listening skills since no student knows whose name will be called.

Speaking is a very useful activity,it helps the student to be more independent in their english speaking.

As i teach in a professional school , with the cooperation of my ingeneering colegues my student introduced  a project that i gave to them in presenting an electronic scheme in the english language.they use a laptop and a video -projector to show it.This was a very useful task done by them as they need not only speaking english but also to know even the electronic terms.

      Dear Miss?Madam,

I want to give a very simple and efficient idea:use what we generally call "Situational English". Students are deeply influenced by their mother tongue structures in using English under different circumstances. For instance, when they are introduced to a certain person and shake hands telling each other their names, when the English native says politely"How do you do!" he answers "Fine, thanks", making the confusion with"How are you?or "How are you doing?"

      Yours sincerely

      Best regards

      Victor Mitroiu.
