      I have to teach a group of rich, intermediate women and all they want to talk about is men. gossips, celebrities, shopping..."sex and the City" style....any idea?

      Well since you already mentioned "Sex & the City", why don`t you use some of the topics  which are discussed in it? Anything that Carrie ponders on is a very good and intelectual tip for discussion, plus the women would love it! You could also watch an eposode in class (if conditions aloow it) so they can give their own thoughts on the matter and share experiences.. Mind you, this is only for speaking activities, or maybe even set it as a reading task.

      I agree with Halflight. You could also use magazines like Cosmopolitan for more up to date gossip / topics, GQ ( or any other magazine that targets male audience so that you can discuss/ debate on men's point of view), In addition, the articles could be used for reading and comprehension.
