      Research advice

      Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some assistance with a research project.

This year I've returned to Edinburgh to take an MSc in TESOL. It has been a very intense year of studying and I'm about to embark on the dissertation which requires a research element. I'm really interested in how effectively an online language learning course can encourage the development of a community of practice amongst efl learners

I have recently designed an on-line course which will assist EFL learners in practising English and discovering a global community on-line. I would be grateful if you could assist me in spreading the word and pass on my e.mail address to anyone interested: andywebster79@gmail.com.

It would be a four week course(starting June) and require between 3-5 hrs per week. I realise that people are very busy and therefore this course will be flexible to their needs.Students will be required to conduct individual research online and contribute to collaborative activities. I will talk to each student via skype on a weekly basis to assist with the activities. They will also meet up in second life at an appropriate time each week to discuss the activities as a group. At the end of the month the students will have their own English blog, experience English in second life and become more comfortable collaborating online. All they need is internet access. It will be a very encouraging and fun atmosphere and they don't need to worry as there are no tests involved. I will conduct an initial interview to see what their needs are and try to adapt the course to their requirements.

I'm looking for intermediate to advanced students who are wanting to use their English in a meaningful way and contribute to a global community.

I have tried contacting some folks but so far it's not happening:(.

      Cheers

      Thanks in advance

      Kind regards

      Andy Webster
